“Exodus” - 2024
This postage stamp collage is made in a monochromatic color scheme of black, brown, and other neutral earth tones. There are four differing triangle sizes arranged in a somewhat chaotic composition. Adding to the melee are the designs on some of the stamp pieces themselves. I chose stamps with bold patterns from quilts, rugs, weavings, lace, and earthenware. I wanted to convey a sense of tension that one may feel in a large group that is scattering in every different direction at once. Keeping the colors muted is meant to tone down the sense of unease.
